He hasn’t been to trial yet, nor has he been convicted of anything, but he’s been tortured in custody. Jumping the gun a bit? Nope, just the way we’re used to treating prisoners now. It was the impression of some in the “civilized world” that prisoners were not to be abused. What happened to our standards of decency? Well, what happened was that the USA self-destructed after being attacked. And yes, the terrorists won because of that. Because of our own behavior. Nice work. And no, the rule of law will not heal by itself.
There were some other guys who “broke the law” but they’ve been ushered from the crime scene with a smile and a wave, a just maybe a book deal and speaking engagements. Purpose. Yeah.
Bradley Manning hasn’t killed anyone. But those guys, who conspired in the deaths of a million people, what are they? They broke the law but they’re exempt from high crimes that killed a million people.
Obama can go fuck himself. The night he was elected in November 2008, I knew I’d be disappointed, but I didn’t know how disappointed. We go along with it, so what does that make us?
